I've been looking for it and nowTim Blair has the farewell speech by Paul Bremer to the Iraqi people that the Washington Post and Los Angeles Times said he never gave.

I want to paste the words here so I can have them for myself:

The future of Iraq belongs to you, the Iraqi people. We and your other friends will help, but we can only help. You must do the real work.

The Iraq your children and their children inherit will depend on your actions in the months and years ahead. You Iraqis must now take responsibility for your future of hope. You can create that future of hope by standing fast against those who kill your police and soldiers, who kill your women and children, who wreck Iraq's pipelines and power lines, and then claim to be your champions.

You can create that future of hope by supporting your government and the elections they are pledged to bring you. You can create that future of hope in a thousand different ways by sharing through your words and deeds a personal commitment to a stable and peaceful Iraq.

You, Iraq's Kurds and Arabs, Shi'a and Sunni, Turkomen and Christian, you are more like each other than you are different from one another. You have a shared vision of how a united Iraq can, again, be a beacon of hope to the region. You have a shared hatred of the violence inflicted on you by those who abhor your vision. And you have a shared love of this wonderful, rich land.

Let no one pit you against each other. For when Iraqis fight Iraqis, only Iraqis suffer.

I leave Iraq gladdened by what has been accomplished and confident that your future is full of hope. A piece of my heart will always remain here in the beautiful land between the two rivers with its fertile valleys, it's majestic mountains and its wonderful people.

I know this isn't the whole speech because Omar posted a piece by Ali at Iraq The Model describing his and his friends reaction to the speech which, he says, Bremer finished in Arabic with, "A’ash Al-Iraq, A’ash Al-Iraq, A’ash Al-Iraq"! (Long live Iraq, Long live Iraq, long live Iraq). I don't know if this is the whole speech because the CNN link indicates that this was the end of a video clip, but it is at least proof beyond reasonable doubt that the Washington Post and Los Angeles Times are incompetent.

Arthur Chrenkoff presents part five in his series of "Good News From Iraq."

Yes, once again, it's a very long post because there is so much to report.

I won't read it, but Andrew Sullivan recommends this review of "Farenheit 9/11" by a fellow lefty. I got to the part where the reviewer says, "So here it is: I think George Bush is a fucking asshole. I also think Michael Moore is a fucking asshole. Bush is the probably the bigger one, but he didn't make a movie. He just screwed the country. Moore is a lousy researcher, but a loud one" and decided that this guy was not worth my time.

But he may influence some other likeminded lefty types so I thought I would link to it. Have at it.

Let's see. What has happened since I last posted?

John Kerry announced that John Edwards would be his running mate. Yes, musn't forget that. What else? Hmmm. Oh yea, analysts are predicting that this year we'll have the best economy this nation has seen in 20 years. Also, Iraqis are threatening to kill Abu Musab al-Zarqawi if he doesn't leave Iraq and stop killing Iraqis.

Oh, and on the lighter side, via Power Line blog, I want to recommend this New Yorker profile of Larry David. Yes, he's a far left kind of guy, but he's also one of the geniuses behind one of my favorite shows (Seinfeld) and since this article isn't political I can recommend it.

Finally, I hate my job. Can't stand it. I will be looking for other employment.

That's about it. Now to pick up where I left off.
